After a year dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Team Rhombus entered 2021 with more determination than ever to pursue its mission of making the world a safer place with simple, smart, and powerful physical security solutions. Along the way, we delivered a ton of new products and features, rolled out thousands of improvements and optimizations, and became more involved in our industry and community.

It’s been an incredible year for Rhombus, so here are a few highlights to summarize all we’ve accomplished.

1. $10M Series A led by Cota Capital

Rhombus secured a $10M Series A this year, bringing our total funding amount to over $20M. We’re honored to have partnered with passionate investors, including Cota Capital, MSD Partners, Uncorrelated Ventures, Lemnos Labs, and Promus Ventures.

With this additional capital, we plan to accelerate new product offerings and continue delivering experiences customers and partners love.

2. Industry-Leading 10-Year Warranty

Rhombus’ philosophy is to always prioritize the user experience through thoughtful and focused engineering. We stand behind the products we create, which is why we introduced a 10-year warranty on all cameras to show our commitment to quality.

3. 5.5 Billion Activity Events Processed

In 2021, Rhombus processed 5.5 billion activity events. That’s over 170 events per second!

Each of these AI-powered events reveal pieces to a story – an unidentified person arriving on-site, a vehicle spotted past business hours, someone gaining access to a restricted area, and much more. Activity events are just a small component of the Rhombus Platform that enable users to protect their physical environments with speed and efficiency.

4. Deployed in Over 10,000 Locations

Rhombus is now deployed in over 10,000 locations across six continents (Antarctica, we’re coming for you)!

With data centers spread across the world, Rhombus’ performance remains consistent no matter where you are. So, if you require cameras installed in offices in the US, Africa, and Australia – no worries, Rhombus has you covered.

5. Five New Devices

Physical security isn’t one-size-fits-all, and requirements vary wildly between organizations and industries. By developing products designed to serve different use cases, we aim to provide every organization with the right solution for its unique needs.

This year, we expanded the suite of Rhombus products by adding five new devices:

1. R500 Telephoto Bullet Camera
2. R510 Bullet Camera
3. R200 Dome Camera
4. R120 Dome Camera
5. E2 Air Quality Environmental Sensor

All Rhombus devices are engineered from the ground up to be secure and reliable, undergo extensive testing, and use only NDAA/TAA-compliant enterprise-grade components to ensure organizations receive the most sophisticated physical security experience possible.

6. Powerful Smart Features and Over a Thousand Optimizations

Rhombus is different from traditional systems by providing a future proof platform that continually gets better over time at no additional cost. Over the past year, the Rhombus Engineering team added over 15 new features and tools to help users work smarter and faster.

Here are some of the top features from 2021:

4. Feature enablement

On top of these new tools, the best continually got better. In 2021, we shipped over 1500 improvements to the Rhombus Platform to ensure users are always leveraging the best available technology.

7. New Year, New HQ

Over the past year, Rhombus experienced 3X year-over-year growth. As a result, we outgrew our office space and moved to a bigger HQ in Sacramento, CA. We're grateful for our team because everything on this list was made possible by them.
